My name is…
Naomi Robertson
I am playing…
Sorel Bliss
My first stage appearance was…
I was a street urchin in Carousel when I was 9 years old. It was love of the stage at first show.
I have been involved with the Thespians since…
I was 10 years old. I remember seeing my first Panto at the Haslemere Hall and being amazed by the principal boys performance and the colourful costumes and songs and dancing and of course the dame's jokes, and told my mum I wished to be in a Panto myself one day and she made sure that one day came around as soon as possible and I have never looked back.
Favourite part (before this one)…
I have had the pleasure and luck to play many different types of characters. My favourite part is a toss up between playing Puss in Boots in Puss in Boots, Peter Pan in Peter Pan or Nell Gwynn in Nell Gwynn. It’s certainly helped me remember what show I’m in!
Most interesting place I’ve performed at…
The most Interesting place I have ever performed would be at the Soho Theatre in London when I used to do stand up comedy!
One thing you’d never guess about me…
I get incredibly nervous and scared before going on stage, someone has to push me on!
About my character…
Sorel is a classic 19 year old who thinks she knows everything, and believes she is as grown up as you can get and likes to think the world is at her disposal. Among ‘her people’ she is charming and fun and is happy to make a scene, but among more ‘sensitive and normal’ folk she is a cat, spoilt and rude. It’s a joy to play such a strong and clear cut character who I think has little desire to fit in and be soft and gentle and caring. But then again leopards always do look best in their spots.
