My name is…
Clare Nisbet
I am playing…
Clara
My first stage appearance was…
A very long time ago, that I can’t quite remember exactly but it was probably as a dancer in Lynchmere Pantomime when I was about 5 or 6 years old.
I have been involved with the Thespians since…
I looked after props in the Christmas panto, and then also for Around the World in 80 Days. I did join a couple of reading evenings when I was in my 20s but never quite got around to doing anything with them as I moved away.
Favourite part (before this one)…
This is a difficult one because I have played many that I loved but, probably one of my favourites would be the Hon. Gwendolen Fairfax in The Importance of Being Earnest. A truly wonderful play and an iconic part. I was supremely grateful and honoured to be given the opportunity.
Most interesting place I’ve performed at…
Would most likely be Guildford Castle Grounds in an open air production of As You Like It when I played Rosalind. A fantastic site to perform, despite the occasional rain shower, as it is a beautiful setting and lends itself well to Shakespearean performances.
One thing you’d never guess about me…
Unfortunately, I think I’m a fairly open book but something I have done that not many would know, is swimming in the sulphur waters of a volcano in Santorini having first jumped off the boat.
About my character…
Clara is the unofficial fifth member of the Bliss family and fiercely protective of them all. She was originally Judith’s dresser in the theatre but has stayed loyal and helped to bring up the children. She does not like outsiders and has no interest in being polite.
